Frequently Asked Question!

Yes. Our ghee comes from the milk of cows that graze on pastures all year round. 95% of our ghee is grass fed. This is not 100% because humane standards allow grain feeding for newborn cow mothers, who may need more growth to produce healthy milk.

No, but if you want to store it for a long time then you can refrigerate it. Ghee is very stable and is good for at least a year if kept at room temperature and out of the sun. We recommend allowing 1-2 months before opening as human behavior dictates that you may accidentally contaminate your ghee with a drop of water, or dip small children’s fingers into the jar, so use common sense, and keep your ghee clean and dry. And it will serve you well throughout your jar! Keep ghee away from direct sunlight which will make it white and discolored.

Ghee has a melting point of about 75 degrees, depending on the distribution of saturated and unsaturated fats in your jar. Saturated fats are heavy, which is why they sink to the bottom in hot weather and you sometimes get solid ghee at the bottom and liquid at the top. Similarly, if you store it in a cupboard above your stove, it will usually melt when you use the stove for any length of time. Keep your ghee away from direct sunlight! This is the only way to spoil ghee.

Of course yes. Cream is sweet, comes from cow’s milk. Our herds are completely vegetarian, which means, they are pastured and supplemented with hay, alfalfa and very minimal ancient grains. No feedlot behavior is tolerated in our supply chain.

While each body is individual, and the health of the liver and the gallbladder come into play when talking about the digesting of fats and cholesterol, in general, the answer is no. For most, the benefits of ghee are great, and evidence shows that pure ghee-supplemented diets have positive effects on the heart. The studies below support the Ayurvedic declaration that ghee is protective for the body in multiple ways.

Our business was started as a way to give high-quality ghee to the sensitive customer. In developing our business, there was a fair amount of idealism. The brand was built on principles that we truly believe it: Impeccable sourcing, Artisan culturing, the highest possible grass-fed status, organic and kosher designations, and small-batch, flame cooking. We set out to make ghee as close to the Vedic recommendations as possible, and never ever sacrificing taste for price. We keep our margins as small as possible to operate, so that you get this ghee at the best possible price, while we still get to remain in business. Once you taste it, this may be less of a question.
